UMKC Gives Brown Extension

POSTED: 1:42 pm EDT September 24, 2008

(Sports Network) - The University of Missouri-Kansas City has given men's basketball coach Matt Brown a contract extension through the 2012-13 season.

Brown is entering his second season with the Kangaroos, who posted a record of 11-21 last year.

"It is with confidence and enthusiasm that we make this announcement," said UMKC athletic director Tim Hall. "Matt Brown is conducting his program in a first class manner -- in all areas. He is laying the foundation for future success for UMKC men's basketball and the more broad athletics department. Building a strong foundation takes time and I wanted to assure Matt, his staff and future recruits that we are committed to building something long enduring."

Brown spent 10 years as an assistant under John Beilein at Richmond and West Virginia before taking over at UMKC.
