NCAA Game Summary - Furman At The Citadel

POSTED: 9:51 pm EST February 28, 2008

(Sports Network) - The Furman Paladins went to McAlister Field House and handed The Citadel Bulldogs a 73-63 Southern Conference defeat thanks to 17 points and eight rebounds from Justin Dehm.

The Paladins (7-21, 6-13 SoCon) also got bench contributions from Jordan Miller and Alex Opacic who logged 11 and 10 points, respectively. George Brozos also got involved with 10 points and four rebounds in the win.

The Citadel (6-22, 1-18) dropped its fourth straight decision despite 15 points, seven assists and five rebounds out of Cameron Wells. Austin Dahn hit five three-pointers, but needed thirteen attempts from behind the arc to record a team-high 16 points.

The Furman defense held the Bulldogs to just nine first half field goals, while its offense drained 14-of-27 from the field in taking a 40-28 lead at the break.

The Citadel hit six three-pointers in the final period, but the Paladins once again were efficient from the field in hitting half of their 22 attempts in the 10-point victory.

The Citadel only turned the ball over five times in the setback, but were overpowered on the boards by a 39-23 margin.
