Students Become Filmmakers To Prevent Drunken Driving
Film Festival Showcases Students' Work

WALHALLA, S.C. -- According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol someone dies in a drunken driving crash every 31 minutes in the United States.That was one of the reasons Oconee County brought all of its high schools together for a film festival aimed at preventing teens from drinking and driving.As part of the program, several students from each high school created movies to raise awareness about drinking and driving. All aspects of the filmmaking process, from writing dialogue to videotaping and editing, was done by students.Tamassee-Salem took home the award for best film, and the team received a $250 cash prize.Walhalla received an award for best cinematography and, along with it, a $100 prize.
