Clemson Furlough Relief Fund Started

Group Accepting Gifts To Help University Employees

The Clemson University Foundation said Tuesday it has started a relief fund to help university employees affected by a recent furlough.

Last week, Clemson University officials asked all employees of the school to take five days off without pay. They said the furlough will help the school deal with a $25 million state budget cut.

The foundation said it is accepting gifts for the One Clemson Furlough Relief Fund from now until the end of December.

The money collected will be distributed to employees in the greatest need as soon as possible, the foundation said.

Employees who want to apply for assistance from the fund will be sent to all employees by the foundation later this week, officials said.

Anyone who would like to donate to the fund can send check to the Clemson University Foundation, P.O. Box 1889, Clemson, S.C., 29633.
