Bobcats Extend Offers To Okafor, Hollins; Bring Back Davidson

POSTED: 1:54 pm EDT July 1, 2008

(Sports Network) - The Charlotte Bobcats extended qualifying offers to restricted free agents Emeka Okafor and Ryan Hollins, and picked up the 2008-09 option on the contract of forward Jermareo Davidson.

Okafor, a Connecticut product, averaged 13.8 points and 10.7 rebounds last season while playing all 82 games for the first time in his four-year NBA career. The second overall pick in the 2004 draft, Okafor won Rookie of the Year honors the following season.

In 248 games, the 6-10 forward/center has averaged 14.3 points and 10.8 rebounds.

Hollins, a seven-footer from UCLA, has averaged 2.4 points and 1.6 rebounds in 87 games over two seasons after being selected by the Bobcats in the second round of the 2006 draft.

By tendering the qualifying offers, the Bobcats retained their right of first refusal should Okafor or Hollins sign an offer sheet with another team.

Davidson, who was acquired in a draft day trade in 2007 that sent Jason Richardson to Golden State, averaged 3.2 points and 1.5 rebounds over 38 games in his rookie season out of Alabama.

The Bobcats also declined to exercise the 2008-09 option for veteran forward Othella Harrington, who averaged 2.1 points and 1.9 boards in limited action over 22 games last season.
