A 3-engine coal train hauling 95 cars through Duncan lost 14 of those cars when they jumped the track around 2:30 a.m. Monday, Duncan Fire Chief Barry Frost said.

The derailment happened near the Spencer Street railroad crossing.

Frost said there were four people on the train when the accident happened, but they were not injured.

Frost said emergency crews are having difficulties righting the train because the derailment happened in a location that is a half-mile from any roads.

Frost said the cars fell into a 50-foot ravine.

Frost said the cars were empty, but some of the cars appeared to be leaking motor oil.

Hazmat teams were on scene monitoring the oil leak, but said they do not expect it to be a problem.
