Kisses Or Chocolate: Which Makes You Melt

POSTED: 10:47 am EST December 26, 2007

Chocolate and kisses may go hand in hand.

Have you ever enjoyed a fabulous kiss that makes you melt? Well, according to a British doctor, kisses are fine and dandy but you should choose chocolate for a stronger sensation.

British doctor David Lewis monitored both the heart rates and brain waves of couples as they melted chocolate in their mouths and then as they kissed.

According to Lewis, the chocolate cause a more intense and longer lasting body and brain “buzz” than kissing, and it doubled the volunteers’ heart rates.

For some of the volunteers, the “buzz” lasted four times longer then the most passionate kiss.

Substances in the chocolate are already known to have an effect on our brains, by raising endorphins. But it was the intensity of the results that were surprising and that researchers said they think melting the chocolate on the tongue could be the secret to maximizing the “buzz.”

Researchers used dark chocolate in their study.
