Deputies arrested a Belton man in connection with three drive-by shootings that happened earlier this week.

A judge denied bail for 32-year-old Kimako Evans on Wednesday after deputies said he fired shots into two homes and a business on Tuesday.

Deputies said Evans shot into the Tri-City Autoparts store on Highway 20 in Pelzer. Then he fired a shot into a home on Big Creek Road in Belton and another home on Hamilton Street in Williamston, deputies said.

One of the bullets lodged in the wall of one of the homes, only feet away from where children normally play.

“It was really scary, especially because it could’ve been bad if me and the kids were here,” said Kim Crawford, one of the victims. “I’m just ready to get it patched up and get everything behind me.”

Evans was charged with discharging a firearm into a dwelling by Anderson County deputies. Williamston and Belton police said Evans was wanted in their towns on other un-related charges.

Williamston police said they are considering adding hate crime charges against Evans. They said Evans shouted racial slurs during the shootings.
