Deputies said they are investigating the discovery of two bodies from the same family that were found at two different homes in Spartanburg County on Thursday night.

Deputies said family members went to check on 46-year-old Marshall Scott Tapp at 1039 Jordan Road in Lyman around 6:45 p.m. They said when the family went inside they found Tapp’s body inside.

The family called deputies and alerted them to the discovery and said they feared for the safety of another family member who lived at 101 Tapps Circle.

Deputies went to the home around 10:45 p.m. and found the body of 74-year-old Kenneth Leroy Tapp lying on the ground outside the home.

Deputies called both deaths suspicious.

Investigators named a person of interest in the case late Friday morning. They said they are looking for 54-year-old Phillip Steven Tapp.

Investigators also said they are looking for full size, 1986 Chevrolet pickup with a light blue body and a dark blue stripe that runs through the middle. It has a South Carolina license plate with the number 712-MXJ.

An autopsy for both men has been scheduled for Friday afternoon, deputies said.

Investigators would not say how the two men are related, but did confirm that they are related.

Deputies asked anyone with information in this case to call Crime Stoppers at 58-CRIME.
