The man investigators called a person of interest in a double homicide case and was arrested in Nashville, Tenn., on Friday night, will be charged with two counts of murder in the case.

Phillip Steven Tapp was called a person of interest in the deaths of two of his family members on Thursday night.

Deputies said family members went to check on 46-year-old Marshall Scott Tapp at 1039 Jordan Road in Lyman around 6:45 p.m. Thursday. They said when the family went inside they found Marshall Tapp’s body.

The family called deputies and alerted them to the discovery and said they feared for the safety of another family member who lived at 101 Tapps Circle.

Deputies went to the home around 10:45 p.m. Thursday and found the body of 74-year-old Kenneth Leroy Tapp lying on the ground outside the home.

Both men had been stabbed multiple times, deputies said.

Investigators said that a 1986 Chevrolet pickup was missing from the home of Kenneth Tapp.

Deputies said Phillip Tapp was driving that stolen truck when he was pulled over on suspicion of driving under the influence in Nashville on Friday.

Phillip Tapp was being held on charges of driving under the influence in Tennessee. He was also charged with possession of a stolen vehicle in Spartanburg County.

Deputies said Phillip Tapp will be charged with two counts of murder in the case. He is awaiting extradition to Spartanburg County in a Nasheville jail.
