A man charged with murder in the strangulation death of a Clemson student may have fashioned a knife to harm his jailers, according to a warrant in the inmate’s file.

Jerry Buck Inman is charged with rape, kidnapping and murder in the May 2006 death of 20-year-old Tiffany Souers.

Investigators said Inman used a bikini top to strangle her inside her off-campus apartment.

For two years, Inman has been in a private cell in Pickens County awaiting trial. A warrant in his file said that detention officers found the remnants of a radio and what they said was a plastic homemade knife.

The knife was designed for the solitary purpose of inflicting injury to an officer, according to the warrant.

In May, a judge denied Inman’s request for a change of venue. In September, Inman’s request to plead guilty but have his sentence decided by a jury was also denied.
