CHESTER, S.C. -- A Fountain Inn man received five years in prison for raping a child at a home-based day care last year.

Grady Davis, also known as Papa, is charged with forcible rape and criminal sexual conduct with a minor.

According to police reports, one of the victims, a young girl, told deputies when she and Davis were left alone he would take her into the bedroom and pull her pants and panties off. She also said Davis would tell her if she did not tell anyone about what had happened he would not do it again.

Deputies said Davis also inappropriately touched another child in 2006. They said the rape happened within the last five years.

“Why did you pick my child?” asked the rape victim’s mother during an interview with FOX Carolina last year. “She’s innocent. I feel like he’s taken some of that away from her.”

Last year, Davis pleaded guilty to the charges against him.

Davis was in a Chester County courtroom on Wednesday for his sentencing. The judge handed down a five year prison sentence. He also ordered Davis to serve five years probation after being released from prison.

Davis is also required to register as a sex offender.
