UNION, S.C. -- A mother and child were tied up before her brother was shot and killed during a robbery Monday morning, according to an incident report.The shooting happened just after 12:30 a.m. at 147 Woodberry Drive.According to the incident report, three men broke into the home and walked into a bedroom where a mother and her 3-year-old were asleep. The report said the men woke the mother and her child up and at least two of them waved guns at them.Deputies said the men tied the mother up and began demanding money and car keys from her. She told them that everything was in her purse. They said the men then started demanding a money box and the woman told them she did not know anything about a money box.
The report said two of the men walked down the hall and woke up her brother. The woman told deputies she could hear the men and her brother arguing. Then she heard one of the men say, “Shoot the n*****,” and then a gunshot.Deputies said when they arrived they found 19-year-old Kelvin Davis lying on the kitchen floor in a pool of blood. They said he was taken to Spartanburg Regional Medical Center, where he later died.Deputies said the men got away with an ATM card, cell phone and money box with about $1,700 inside.A description of the men involved was not available.Anyone with information in this case should call the Union County Sheriff’s Department.
