Police said a teenager choked his grandmother and held another family member at gunpoint.

The incident happened at 127 Toney Road on Thursday.

Police said 17-year-old Chad Phillips got into an argument with his family about a debit card.

Phillips threatened his cousin with a rifle and made him sit on the couch with the gun pointed toward him, police said.

An incident report also said Phillips walked outside and fired the gun at a house across the street and then shot a Bible that was lying on the floor inside his family’s home.

The Union Daily Times reported that Phillips threatened to kill his cousin, his grandmother and then himself.

Phillips was charged with assault of a high and aggravated nature, discharging a firearm into a dwelling, pointing and presenting a firearm, kidnapping, and two drug charges.
