Deputies said they are searching for a Spartanburg County 2-year-old boy who was reported missing around 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.

William Eschenbach was last seen playing in the back yard of his home at 130 South Tyger Lane in Roebuck.

Deputies were using ground crews, dogs and a helicopter to search a heavily wooded area near the boy’s home. Dog crews have been provided with pieces of William's clothing to help them pick up his scent.

William was described as white, with blond hair and wearing a green shirt and grey pants.

Anyone with information on William’s whereabouts was asked to call the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office.

As of 9 p.m., deputies said that nearly 30 volunteers have showed up at the command center to offer their assistance. They said that anyone who would like to help with the search should call the sheriff's office before they go to the scene to make sure they are needed. They asked volunteers to stay out of the woods.

"We don't want anybody in woods right now," said Master Deputy Harry Cline. "Search and rescue dogs are out there and they work off air scent and turned over vegatation and stuff like that."

A man who owns the property where the search is focused is helping deputies assemble search teams and plan the search efforts.
