21 Charged In Gambling Raid

Deputies: $34K In Cash, Drugs Seized In Raid

Deputies said that 21 people were charged in connection with a raid on a suspected gambling house on Sunday.

The raid happened at 633-C Southport Road.

Deputies said that in addition to the people charged, more than $34,000 in cash and illegal drugs were seized.

Charged with gambling were: 64-year-old James News, of Buffalo; 46-year-old Robert Sparks, of Hendersonville; 65-year-old Judith Bowling, of Greenville; 53-year-old Phillip Porter, of Spartanburg; 38-year-old Travis Blackwell, of Lyman; 40-year-old Baxter Bradley, of Spartanburg; 41-year-old Worapoch Chongcharoenchit, of Lyman; 40-year-old George Miller, of Rutherfordton; 43-year-old Brenda Mays, of Spartanburg; 40-year-old Charles West, of Woodruff; 34-year-old Shon Alfred Weeks, of Duncan; 50-year-old William Fowler, of Jonesville; 63-year-old Gary Jones, of Gaffney; 42-year-old William Nichols, of Union; 61-year-old Bobby Stevens, of Arcadia; 61-year-old Bobby Millwood, of Union; 59-year-old Michael Green, of Woodruff; and 36-year-old Kevin Weather, of Roebuck.

Jerry Belcher, 41, of Lyman, was charged with assault and gambling.

Dennis Hicks, 36, of Greer, was charged with possession of marijuana and gambling.

Phillip Persalis, 34, of Spartanburg, was charged with operating a gambling house and possession of marijuana.
