The Anderson County Sheriff's Office has made an arrest in the second shooting in 24 hours at a residence outside of Iva. One of the shootings was fatal.

Anderson County Coroner Greg Shore said 32-year-old Waliyyuden Dawson of Iva, S.C., was fatally shot Saturday afternoon outside 111 Bascombe Drive.

Investigators said he was killed with a shotgun.

According to Shore, Dawson was shot multiple times and was pronounced dead at Anderson Area Medical Center at 4:58 p.m. Shore said Dawson's 10-year-old and 12-year-old sons witnessed their father's killing.

Anderson County Sheriff Capt. Scott White said Dawson got into a fight with someone in the front yard of the home. White said the altercation escalated into gunfire.

Witnesses told FOX Carolina they heard three gunshots.

White said Dawson took off running across a field, crossing nearby Sexton Gin Road before collapsing between two homes.

Police have arrested Johnny Lee Mackey, 25, of Anderson. He was charged with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. He was being held at the Anderson County Detention Center.

No further charges are expected in that shooting, police said.

Investigators said there is no evidence that suggests that shooting was related to another shooting at the residence Friday night, when a woman was shot multiple times there after an apparent home invasion.

White said four men in a black Honda pulled into the driveway and then barged their way into the home. White said the men demanded that the people inside hand over their money. When a woman told the men she didn't have any cash, they shot her, White said.

The woman was air-lifted to Anmed Hospital Friday night and then transferred to Greenville Memorial Saturday afternoon. Her condition was not released. The men fled the scene.

Deputies asked anyone with information about either shooting to call Anderson County Crime Stoppers at 231-STOP.
