Greenville County deputies said that the friend of a Travelers Rest woman turned her in when she talked about trying to hire a hit man to kill her husband.

Investigators said that about two weeks ago, 21-year-old April Barton, of 103 Paris View Dr., asked a friend if she knew anyone who she could hire to kill her husband. They said Barton told her friend that she had money to pay any person who could complete the job.

Deputies said that her friend then broke off communication with her and told the sheriff’s office about the discussion.

Investigators said that about a week later, they brought in an undercover operative to pose as the hit man. They said Barton and the undercover officer agreed on a price and even discussed the area where the hit man could dispose of his body.

Barton was arrested on Wednesday and charged with solicitation to commit a felony and conspiracy to commit a felony. She was being held at the Greenville County Detention Center on a $20,000 bond.
