Clerk Says He Exchanged Gunfire With Robbers

ENOREE, S.C. -- The clerk of an Enoree store said he exchanged gunfire with two men who robbed the store on Monday.The robbery happened at Fas-Way Foods at 1598 Highway 92 at 12:20 p.m.The clerk told FOX Carolina that two armed men walked into the store and demanded money. He said that immediately after they demanded the money, the men shot three or four times at him, but missed.The clerk said he gave the men the money and then as they were fleeing, they fire another shot at him. He said that was when he grabbed his gun and ran after the robbers.The clerk said he exchanged gunfire with the robbers as they drove away on Ice House Road.Deputies said the clerk suffered minor injuries when he fell while chasing the car.Investigators swarmed the scene immediately after the robbery.
