Gaffney police said that a textile mill that was destroyed by fire earlier this month caught fire again on Monday.

Police said that flames and smoke could be seen for miles because of a fire at the Sco-Mar Textile Outlet at 300 E. Robinson St.

The fire rekindled from the June 16 fire at the business, police said. They said several fire departments were at the scene battling the new blaze.

Police have charged Calvin Hooper with arson in connection with the first fire at the business.

The owner of the business, Michael Childers, was also charged after the first fire because of what investigators said they found inside the business.

Childers was charged with running a lottery-style gambling operation after investigators said they found items used to run a gaming house and $5,000 worth of gaming receipts inside the business following the blaze.

Childers was released on bond.

Hooper was being held at the Cherokee County Detention Center.
