The secretary at a Rutherford County business confirmed Wednesday afternoon that a plant at the business was burning.

The fire happened at Carpenter Design at 217 Belt Court at about 2 p.m.

When FOX Carolina put in a call to the business, the secretary who answered the phone said they have an “emergency situation” and that the plant was on fire.

According to the company's Web site, the business manufactures mulch from used wooden pallets.

Dispatchers with Rutherford County said the county’s emergency management office is at the scene. They also said that multiple fire departments from the surrounding area have been called in to help battle the blaze.
