The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office said it made a traffic stop Thursday that ended in a suicide.

Deputies said they pulled over a woman driving a Chevy Blazer on Highway 11. Her children got out of the car and police said she drove off while firing shots at deputies.

She later shot herself in the head while driving, the sheriff’s office said.

Cherokee County authorities are looking for a male murder suspect. They said Thursday’s incident was not related to recent shootings in the county.

Officials said the woman’s car did not match the description of the suspect’s car.
