One man was killed and another man was injured when a car crashed into a car lot and flipped early Friday morning.

The crash happened at 1101 Highway 28 Bypass at about 4 a.m.

The Anderson County Coroner’s Office said that 25-year-old Matthew Elrod, of Iva, had just picked up 23-year-old Kevin Foster, of Anderson, when the crash happened. They said the pair were headed to work.

Investigators said that the pair were traveling around a sharp curve and lost control of the vehicle. They said the white pickup truck crashed into the lot at Brewster’s Used Cars and flipped.

The coroner’s office said that Elrod was killed in the crash and Foster was taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the crash was under investigation as of Friday morning.

Tony Brewster, owner of the dealership, said that this is the eighth time this kind of crash has happened there since 1981. He said the curve near his dealership is dangerous and that he has asked the state to put up a guard rail for years.
