Residents of a Pickens apartment complex said that despite them paying their bills their apartments are in disrepair and the owner of the complex is not paying his bills.

Renters at Winwood Gardens Apartments said something has to be done about the owner of the apartment complex. They said that even though they paid their bills on time, neither the water bill for the complex nor the trash bill were being paid.

Tenants who told FOX Carolina about the problem said that the trash finally got picked up on Monday after nearly a month without any service. They said that management also told them that the water was going to be shut off.

Residents said they have been told that the owner of the complex owes $10,000 for water. The water company said they will give the owner another 30 days to pay the bill before they shut off the water.

“My mother is handicapped and I have to have water in case something happens to her,” said Michael Anthony, a tenant.

“I don’t have anywhere to go and a whole bunch of these people out here don’t have anywhere to go,” said Leslie Freeman, another tenant.

The owner of the complex, Kevin Flessner, released a statement on Monday.

“I’m doing everything I can for the tenants,” Flessner said in the statement. “I’m trying to correct these problems.”

Residents also said that the roof on some of the units is falling in and the air conditioning in other units is not working anymore.
