Upstate Search For Lowcountry Woman Called Off
Tip Leads To Search Near Lake, Deputies Say

ANDERSON, S.C. -- The search for a Charleston woman in Anderscon County that was prompted by a tip has been called off with no results.Deputy Chief Keith Smith said that 28-year-old Katherine Waring has been missing for a few weeks.Smith said some people from Charleston met with investigators in Anderson County on Tuesday, which led crews to begin searching an area near the lake off Highway 24 on Wednesday morning.Search teams from Anderson County and cadaver dogs from Spartanburg County conducted the search, Smith said.Smith said he did not believe the tip was going to pan out, but investigators wanted to be on the safe side.
