A Spartanburg County judge has ordered that a popular wedding venue close, but not before allowing weddings already scheduled to take place.

The controversy over Spiegel Farms in Campobello began after neighbors complained about loud music and fireworks at the farm.

Members of the Windswept Plantation Homeowners Association accused Sue Spiegel, who runs the venue, in a lawsuit of violating the covenant for the neighborhood. On Wednesday, a judge ruled in their favor.

"In the declaration of covenants, the lots located in Windswept Plantation are restricted to residential or horse farm use, which does not include commercial," Judge Gordon Cooper said in his ruling.

Cooper ruled that weddings scheduled between now and Dec. 20 will be allowed to take place, with some stipulations. He said that there cannot be any more fireworks displays at the farm and the music must end by 11 p.m.
