The South Carolina Highway Patrol said it is investigating an overnight crash in Spartanburg County that left one person dead and five others injured.

The wreck occurred at about 12:40 a.m. on state Highway 29 near Biblebrook Road one mile east of Greer, FOX Carolina News reported.

Troopers said 20-year-old Kevin Dill, of Lyman, was driving north on Highway 29 in a 1999 Ford truck when he lost control, overcorrected and flipped.

Troopers said two passengers were in the cab and three passengers were riding in the bed of the truck -- all were thrown.

Spartanburg County Coroner investigator Stephen Lully said 17-year-old Zion Faith Mills was riding in the cab of the truck but was not wearing a seat belt. Troopers said Mills died at the scene.

Investigators said a 16-year-old Wellford girl who was thrown from the truck was flown to an area hospital. The others were transported by ambulance.

Troopers have charged Dill with driving under the influence. Investigators said he was wearing his seat belt but was injured in the wreck.

Troopers said the wreck is still under investigation.
