Blacksburg Man Dies In Shooting

Shooter Calls For Help, Coroner Says

The Cherokee County Coroner's Office said that a Blacksburg man died after being shot early Wednesday morning.

The shooting happened at 416 E. Lime St. at 2:41 a.m.

Cherokee County Coroner Dennis Fowler said that police were called to the home by 46-year-old Johnny Mueller who claimed he had shot 52-year-old Rickey Dixon, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Blacksburg Police Chief Jamie Ham said that Mueller tried to intervene in an altercation between Dixon, his brother-in-law, and Dixon's wife. He said that during the altercation, Mueller shot Dixon.

Mueller was charged with murder in connection with the shooting.
