Troopers said that a teenager was killed when her car slammed into a tree on Tuesday night.

The Highway Patrol said that 17-year-old Veronica Herold was driving down Old Laurens Road just before 9 p.m. when she lost control of the car and crashed into a tree.

The Laurens County Coroner's Office said that Herold, of Gray Court, was not wearing a seat belt and was partially thrown from the vehicle.

Troopers said that two passengers who were in the car and wearing seat belts were not seriously injured.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
