Anderson County deputies said that the death of a Taylors man whose body was found on Sunday night is a homicide.

The Anderson County Coroner's Office said that the body of 72-year-old Homer Staton was found along Asaville School Road at about 6:15 p.m. Sunday. Investigators said that Staton died from blunt force trauma to the head.

Deputies said that Staton and his wife, Jo Ann, were last seen by their family in Taylors on Friday afternoon.

The Statons' car was found abandoned along Horton Road in Belton on Saturday afternoon, deputies said. They said that blood stains were found inside the car.

Investigators said that Harold Staton's body was found a few miles away from where the couple's car was found.

So far, Jo Ann Staton has not been found.
