Moped Driver Lost Hat Just Before Crash

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Investigators said that a man driving a moped was hit and killed by a truck on Monday night.The crash happened on White Horse Road at about 11 p.m.Investigators said that 67-year-old Eddie Thompson was riding his moped when his hat blew off. They said that when Thompson stopped to pick up his hat he was hit by a truck.The Greenville County Coroner's Office said that Thompson died at a local hospital just after 11:30 p.m.No charges have been filed against the driver of the truck.
