ANDERSON, S.C. -- There was an emotional reaction on Wednesday from relatives who spoke directly to the two suspects accused of murdering Homer and Jo Ann Staton."Why was it necessary to do what you did to my brother and sister in law?" asked Henry Station, Homer Staton's brother. "Why did you think it was necessary?""Sometimes when people get caught up in a lifestyle or drugs or the heat of the moment or if it's pre-meditated, people make decisions and I don't justify it at all," said Mathew Fulbright, one of the suspects charged in the Statons' beating death.Relatives said that Fulbright and Irving Ramirez, the second man charged in the Taylors couple's death, took about $75,000 in cash, plus thousands more in jewelry from the couple.Ramirez stood before a judge in a closed circuit hearing on Wednesday and was presented with his charges -- two counts of murder, two counts of armed robbery and conspiracy to commit armed robbery and murder.Fulbright also appeared before a judge and was presented with an additional charge of conspiracy to commit armed robbery and murder. His tears and apologies brought no closure for the family."Mr. Staton, all I can say is God forgave David," said Fulbright."God may forgive you, young man, but this man standing before you will never forgive you," said Henry Staton. "It was unnecessary what you did."The Staton family said that while forgiveness won't come, they hope justice will."Something needs to be done," said Fred Staton, another brother of Homer Staton. "It doesn't need to wait two or three years. It needs to be done now."
