Deputies Arrest Man, Say Charges Are Likely

The Anderson County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting that sent a mother and her son to the hospital Monday night.

Deputies said the shooting happened around 8:30 p.m. at a home on R Street.

According to deputies, a man who was taken into custody at the scene will likely be charged with assault and battery with intent to kill.

Deputies said the man got into scuffle with the woman's son. At some point, the man fired a weapon, shooting both victims, deputies said.

Deputies said their injuries are not life-threatening.

According to deputies, a 2-year-old boy was inside the home at the time of the shooting but was not injured. The Department of Social Services was called to the scene to evaluate the situation.
