SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Bearings and specialty steels maker Timken Co. has announced plans to bring a new distribution center to Upstate South Carolina, adding 100 new jobs.The state Department of Commerce said Thursday the company selected a 300,000 square-foot site in Spartanburg County. Fifty employees already working in the company's building in Spartanburg will be transferred to the new site in Duncan.Timken executive Chris Coughlin said consolidating warehouses will help the company reduce the parts it has to move between locations and help workers serve customers quicker.Timken plans to move into the new warehouse in December.
