HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. -- Police said a gunman shot a man outside a restaurant Friday night in Hendersonville before turning the gun on himself. The shooting occurred at about 11 p.m. in the parking lot of the Applebee's on Four Seasons Boulevard, police said.Investigators said 26-year-old Russell Cody Flood, of Pisgah Forest, died at the scene. FOX Carolina has learned the alleged gunman, a 31-year-old man from Lake Lure, was flown to Mission Hospital where he died.Authorities said an unidentified female was driving Flood and the alleged gunman around earlier in the night. Flood was in the front passenger seat and the alleged gunman was riding in the backseat.Investigators said the female was dropping the accused gunman off at his car in the parking lot when the shooting occurred.Police described the situation as a love triangle -- Flood and the female driver were dating and the accused gunman in the backseat was an ex-boyfriend.However, investigators said it appeared the fatal shooting was unprovoked based on information they had gathered from the female driver.Henderson police said the shooting is still under investigation.Stay with FOX Carolina News and foxcarolina.com for the latest on this developing story.
