PICKENS, S.C. -- The man accused of killing a Pickens County pawn shop owner three years ago was found guilty of murder on Thursday.Roger Eugene Shephard, 24, of Williamston, was charged with murder and armed robbery in the shooting death of 65-year-old John Bruin at the Action Pawn shop in June 2006.Shephard was arrested three days later in Montreal, Canada.On Wednesday, forensic experts took the stand. They testified that bullets found in Bruin's body matched the ones found in guns found near the Canadian border after Shephard's arrest.One of Shephard's friends also testified that he spoke with him after the shooting. He said that Shephard admitted to shooting someone and said it was because he did not cooperate.Shephard was found guilty on all counts. He was sentenced to life in prison without parole.Prosecutors assured the Canadian government that Shephard would not face the death penalty if convicted. Canada does not extradite people facing death sentences.
