Funeral arrangements were announced Sunday for a Williamston teen who was found dead two days after she was reported missing.

The body of 17-year-old A'Sha Rucker was found at about 6 p.m. Friday outside an abandoned house near the intersection of Long Cane Road and Highway 418, just east of Ware Place in southern Greenville County. Officials said two children playing made the discovery.

Greenville County sheriff's Deputy Matthew Armstrong said initial reports from investigators indicated that there were no visible signs of trauma on Rucker's body. He said Rucker's death is considered to be suspicious in nature due to the location of the body as it relates to her last known whereabouts.

The Greenville County Coroner’s office conducted an autopsy Saturday that was ruled incomplete. Investigators are now awaiting toxicology test results before determining a cause of death.

On Sunday, Heather Holcombe, a friend of the Rucker family, said that the reality of A'Sha's death has not sunk in yet.

"You can't describe what they are going through," Holcombe said. "They are living every parent's worst nightmare right now. They are in a sense of shock. Even Falon, the 6-year-old sister, she's not real sure what to think right now. She knows her sister is gone."

Holcombe said that the teen's funeral was scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the New Hopewell Baptist Church on Dorchester Road in Belton. She said the service is open to the public.

Rucker was reported missing on Wednesday after she did not show up for classes at Palmetto High School.
