ASHEVILLE, S.C. -- Buncombe County sheriff's investigators charged an Asheville man on Saturday in connection with a shooting that left one woman dead.

Deputies responded to 52 Midcourt Drive at about 2 a.m. after receiving a call that someone had been shot.

Upon arrival, deputies found Christine Teresa Johnson, 35, of 52 Green Oak Road, had suffered a gunshot wound to the chest.

Johnson was transported by ambulance to Mission Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Investigators charged Jonathan Allen Crouch, 20, of 53 Midcourt Drive, with second-degree murder in connection with the death.

Crouch is currently being held in the Buncombe County Detention Facility under $300,000 bond.

The investigation remains ongoing.
