Man, Woman Die In Summersett House Fire
Flames Erupt Early Saturday Morning

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Greenville County Sheriff's Office is investigating the deaths of a man and woman found inside a home that burned early Saturday morning.According to investigators, the fire broke out at about 6:30 a.m. at a home on Belle Terre Court inside the Summersett Manor Subdivision near Furman University. It took firefighters about 20 minutes to get the fire under control, officials said.Investigators said a passerby saw flames shooting from the house and called 911. When firefighters arrived at the scene, they said the home was fully engulfed.The Greenville County Coroner's Office said both victims were in their mid 40s. Their identities are being withheld pending autopsies, which are planned for Monday.Investigators with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division are assisting the Greenville County Sheriff's Office along with the Duncan Chapel Fire Department. SLED brought in a search dog to comb the home for any signs of an accelerant that may have been used to start the fire.Deputies were guarding the scene Saturday afternoon as arson investigators sifted through the rubble.A Lexus SUV was parked in the driveway and a second SUV was parked in the garage, deputies said.Neighbors said the couple had just moved into the home in September. One neighbor told FOX Carolina News both vehicles had Alabama plates. The vehicles have been towed from the scene.As of late Saturday afternoon, the sheriff's office was not calling the fire suspicious but said the investigation is ongoing.
