GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Deputies launched a manhunt Monday night after a traffic stop in Greenville County.

Investigators set up a perimeter and searched neighborhoods near Arch Street between Pendleton Road and West Blue Ridge Drive, off White Horse Road for more than an hour.

Deputies said that a driver and passenger jumped out of a car and fled during a traffic stop at 3000 West Blue Ridge Drive at 8:30 p.m. They said that the driver was arrested a short time later, but the passenger was able to get away in some nearby woods.

Authorities identified the driver as 33-year-old Jerry Marsh. He was charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. He was being held at the Greenville County Detention Center on $2,500 bond.

Deputies said that the passenger, who they are searching for, is 18-year-old Frederick Downer, of Greenville. They said that Downer is also a suspect in a kidnapping and shooting that happened along White Horse Road on Sunday.

Investigators said that Downer jumped into a car and held three people at gunpoint. They said that when the driver, who was Downer's friend, came to a stop, the three passengers jumped out of the car and tried to flee. They said that was when Downer fired shots at one of the passengers, wounding him in his neck.

The passenger was treated for his injuries and released.

Deputies said that when Downer is arrested he will be charged with three counts of armed robbery, three counts of kidnapping, two counts of assault with intent to kill, criminal conspiracy and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

The driver, Cassandra Mitchell, was arrested on Tuesday night. She was charged with three counts of armed robbery, three counts of kidnapping and criminal conspiracy.
