The Spartanburg County Coroner's Office said that a Campobello man was killed when he slipped on the ice Sunday morning.

Investigators said that the body of 49-year-old Thomas Smith was found when a car hit it at about 6 a.m. near the intersection of Blue Ridge Drive and Compton Bridge Road.

The coroner's office said that autopsy results show that Smith was dead before his body was hit.

Investigators said that they believe Smith died as a result of injuries suffered in a fall when he slipped on the ice.

No charges will be filed against the driver.
