GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Greenville County Coroner's Office said that a 7-year-old girl was killed when she was run over by her grandmother's sport utility vehicle on Sunday night.

Investigators said that Naomi Haile Hiywot was chasing after her grandmother's vehicle because she wanted to spend the night at her home. Witnesses said that the girl tripped over a curb and fell down near the vehicle.

The coroner's office said that Naomi died from blunt force trauma to the head.

Naomi was a student at Cherrydale Elementary School.
