PICKENS, S.C. -- Police said Thursday that the man who shot and killed a Pickens lawyer on Wednesday evening may have been upset over his drawn-out divorce proceedings.Investigators said that 61-year-old Jerry Crenshaw waited outside the law office of J. Redmond Coyle and then shot him several times as he left work. They said that Crenshaw then turned the gun on himself.Police said that Coyle represented Crenshaw's ex-wife in their divorce proceedings. They said that Crenshaw was recently presented with a court order that told him to sell the home that he owned with his ex-wife and split the money with her.Friends said that Coyle represented Crenshaw during his first divorce.Investigators said that Coyle's daughter, grandson and wife witnessed the fatal shooting as they were waiting outside his office for him.Coyle's family was scheduled to receive friends from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday at Rock Springs Baptist Church in Easley. His funeral was scheduled for 3 p.m. on Sunday at the same church.
