Deputies: Nearly Kidnapped Teen Got In Car With Man
Teen Said Man Identified Himself As 'Todd'

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Deputies said that a girl who claimed she was nearly kidnapped while walking home from school on Monday actually got in the car with the man.Investigators said that the 15-year-old was walking home from Wade Hampton High School when a man drove up beside her near the intersection of East Belvue Road and Weehawken Circle and offered to give her a ride and she accepted. They said that the man then drove to a nearby location and assaulted the girl.The girl suffered scratches and bruises when she tried to get out of the car, investigators said. They said the girl then ran home.Investigators said that the girl had encountered the man a local restaurant a week earlier and that he had identified himself as "Todd."The man was last seen driving a dark red, older-model Volvo four-door sedan.Anyone with information about the case was asked to call the Greenville County Crime Stoppers at 23-CRIME.
