Spartanburg Loses Bid For New Manufacturing Facility
Caterpillar To Build In Winston-Salem

SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Spartanburg County has lost its bid for a new Caterpillar manufacturing facility.Spartanburg County officials said Caterpillar will expand in Winston-Salem, NC.Spartanburg, Winston-Salem and Montgomery, Ala. were finalists for the new plant.Spartanburg County Councilman David Britt said he was dissapointed, but said a great team effort was put forth to try to attract the world's largest maker of construction and mining equipment.The new Caterpillar plant will create nearly 400 full time jobs and hire more than 100 contract workers.
