A comment made by South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham at a recent town hall meeting has garnered some national attention for the outspoken Republican.

Graham held a town hall meeting at Furman University on Monday night. He discussed everything from his stance on abortion to healthcare to the war in Afghanistan to climate change. He also fielded questions about the future of the Republican party.

The senator was discussing how he is going to help grow the Republican party when he said, "We're not going to be a party of angry white guys. We're going to be a party of center-right politics."

The comment was met with both cheers and jeers from those in attendance.

Graham's words have been given airtime on the national media, which has led to some reaction from some of his fellow politicians.

"For him to turn that in and say that everybody who's upset with the government and upset with his type of voting record are angry white people, or white men, that is preposterous," said Congressman Ron Paul, who ran for president as a Republican in 2008. "That is a real insult."

Paul said he has heard from a very diverse group of people at town hall meeting, not just "angry white men."
