Councilman White Elected As Spartanburg Mayor

White Beats Fowler By Nearly 3,000 Votes

Spartanburg City Councilman Junie White was elected as the Sparkle City's next mayor during Tuesday's election.

The councilman picked up 3,299 votes, while rival Mike Fowler picked up 426 votes.

White was elected to City Council in November 2005.

Current Spartanburg Mayor William Barnet III announced over the summer that he would not be running for reelection. Barnet has served as mayor since 2002.
