Clemson's Oglesby To Play Overseas

POSTED: 7:24 pm EDT May 27, 2009

(Sports Network) - Clemson starting guard Terrence Oglesby has decided to leave the program after just two years to pursue a professional basketball career overseas.

"Over the past several years, I have had the opportunity to play internationally, and as a result I have been given the opportunity of playing professionally in Europe," Oglesby said in a statement released by the school on Wednesday. "After much thought and consideration, I have opted to take my basketball career a step further and pursue a professional career."

Oglesby was the team's third-leading scorer last season as a sophomore, averaging 13.2 points per game and topped the Tigers with 92 three-pointers, the fourth-highest single-season total in school history. His 84.5 percent accuracy from the free throw line was also a team best.

The Tigers were 23-9 last season and earned a 7-10 matchup in the NCAA Tournament versus Michigan but fell to the 10th-seeded Wolverines in the first round in a game that saw Oglesby ejected with 17:20 to play after throwing an elbow and being assessed an intentional foul.

Despite giving up his final two seasons of eligibility, Oglesby ends his tenure with the program ranked among the top 10 in school history in three- point field goals (177). He received honorable mention for the ACC's All- Freshman Team in 2007-08, averaging 10.5 points per game as a reserve and knocking down a team-high 85 three-pointers.
