GREENVILLE, S.C.The newborn boy found in a toilet at the Bi-Lo Center in February has been released from the hospital in good condition.
The South Carolina Department of Social Services will now be working with extended family and the family court on a permanent plan that is in the best interest of the baby, spokeswoman Marilyn M. Matheus said Friday.
Jessica Blackham, 24, of Easley, is charged with unlawful neglect of a child and two counts of felony child abuse. She is free on $30,000 bond.
Investigators said a Bi-Lo Center employee discovered the newborn baby the night of Feb. 4 in the womens restroom. They said they believe the baby was born there. Investigators said the child was no more than a couple of hours old when the employee found him.
Andy McAuliffe, Blackhams father, told FOX Carolina his daughter didnt know she was pregnant.
