Authorities have dropped the charges against a Greenville man accused of setting fire to a doghouse after trapping a dog inside.
Solicitor Walt Wilkins said Wednesday he has sent the case against 53-year-old Isaac Henry Anderson back to police for more investigation.
Anderson was arrested in December and charged with third-degree arson, ill treatment of animals and conspiracy.
Investigators said someone put a cinder block around the dog's neck on Nov. 9 so it couldn't escape after the doghouse was set on fire.
The dog named "Pookie" survived the attack, but was treated at a veterinarian's office for burns and other injuries.
The collie-chow mix now lives at an animal sanctuary in Lake Toxaway, N.C.
